Set the angle while sitting on the bike in your normal riding position, not while it is on the stand — the two are further apart than you would think. Tighten the clamp firmly; vibration will walk a loose mount out of position over a few miles. On drop bars, mounting on the flat section near the stem usually gives the cleanest view.
